Daddy-Daughter Dance 2024
Today, I was costumer to Jessica and Jenna as they prepared for their date with their daddy. After LOTS of planning their costumes, they finally were able to sit through the primping. I set up my hair and makeup department in my dining room - sitting the girls on barstools. I brought down my makeup brushes, the make-up, hair tinsel, fascinators, and face gems I bought for tonight, and even my perfume!
Each girl was so excited to sit still as I glammed them up - eyeshadow, lipstick, eye gems, and even a little powder foundation! I moved on to hair - purple tinsel to match their tutus, hair clips, and lots of hairspray - topping it off with the fascinator. I sprayed some of my perfume above them and let it fall.
I finished up with their shoes and princess capes then it was time to go outside and take pictures with their daddy before heading out to dinner and dancing. I helped the hubby get their bag (complete with baby wipes, lipstick for reapplying, and dinner bibs to protect their clothes) and the girls in the car, gave kisses, and closed the garage door.
Then it was time for the cleanup crew to start work. I’ll admit that I misjudged how long it would take to get them ready - we ran about 10 minutes behind, but after seeing the pictures from dinner and the dance, it didn’t seem to matter.
They had a blast! They came into the house like Hansel and Gretel - leaving bits and pieces of their costumes along the way!! After they finally settled for bed, it was time to organize their costumes and move them to the “costume closet” to wait to be reused at Halloween. Oh yeah - they will wear these at least one more time before they make their way to the playroom for dress-up or for prep to resale!
This mama is TIRED! When I look back at the pictures, I won’t remember the stress of getting it all together, getting them out the door, or cleaning up the aftermath. I’ll remember how excited they were to wear pretty dresses, put on adult makeup and perfume, and spend some time with daddy.
